Inhomogeneity and Wave

Inhomogeneity; Wave; Transmission

The refractive index determines the path of a wave ray as it travels through a medium. Given a plausible intended wave ray path, the spatial inhomogeneous refractive index can be determined with reverse engineering. Using an inhomogeneous elastic seabed, I successfully developed a broadband wave guide for water waves (Fluids) that without any need for sidewalls can carry wave energy for large distances [8]. In the case of flexural waves (Solids), using spatial inhomogenity in plate’s thickness, I developed a broadband flexural wave lens, and showed a general way to maneuver flexrual waves over a curved trajectory for a broad range of requencies for the purpose of signal transmission.
